Art Lab: Intro to Animation
In this fun class, tweens and teens will learn the basic of both 2D animation and stop-motion animation. We are going to be looking at hand-drawn techniques to design characters and animate drawings, and students will also learn about professional stop-motion techniques. Along the way, artists gain an understanding of timing, movement, and visual storytelling.
A major part of the series includes collaborating as a group to create a short stop-motion film, a full production film from start to finish. Students will learn the basics of storytelling, script ideas, storyboarding, building backgrounds and characters, and editing the final project. Artists will have access to professional cameras, lighting, microphones, and computers with Adobe Premiere editing software.
This class keeps young minds engaged & inspired, while encouraging creative development. Instructor: This class is taught by Julie, who holds a degree in filmmaking and has worked on over eight feature films as well as countless short films.
See Student Work: Watch a short animation film created by our students during a previous Intro to Animation class.
